Serves 1

3 slices whole wheat bread
200ml milk
1 Tbsp (8g – 10g) custard powder
2 tsp sugar
3 Tbsp dried cranberries
3 Tbsp crushed almonds
3 Tbsp chocolate chips

Use a rolling pin to flatten and lengthen each slice of bread. Using a cookie cutter, cut out heart shapes from each slice and set aside. In a small pan, heat milk and add sugar. In a separate bowl, mix the custard powder with a little water to form a smooth paste. Pour the paste into the hot milk while stirring continuously to prevent lumps. Keep stirring until the custard thickens, then allow to cool to room temperature. Place one bread heart on a plate and spread a little custard over it. Sprinkle about 1 tablespoon each of dried cranberries, almonds, and chocolate chips on top. Repeat the process for the second and third bread hearts. Refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours. Remove from the refrigerator when ready to serve.
